hello ,

Today I read in the 3rd issues in Forum Nokia Tech Library that All methods from the SysUtil API return an error on N80 only. Thus sysinfo.sw_version() should not work because it uses the sysutil GetSWVersion

Is someone can test this ?

hello ,

I have perhaps found a workaround to this problem for N80 !
You have to read the content of this file on the ROM memory.
You can use the free Y-browser 0.77 for this task.

z:\Resource\versions\sw.txt

I contains the same result as GetSwVersion

Does someone check this file on N80 ?

PS : On FNTL I find that z:\resource\versions\model.txt contains the Nokia model ! It's interesting for finding Nokia model !
ex on my N93
N93(01.01)


This file exist only on 3rd ed onwards. There are other files :
imeisv.txt , lang.txt and langsw.txt in the same folder ...

I checked on my N80. There is indeed. Just like you said.

Also the sw.txt contains info about firmware version, release date and phone model.

There is also a file called C:/resources/VERSIONS/User content package.txt (with white spaces?) with this content:

N80_userarea_5.0623.0.41-prd.U01

I also have pumped into this and filed a bug report to SF. The python developers can't fix it.

What is your firmware version ?
Because I read today in FNTL that in the new firmware after 3.0617.0.6 this issue has been fixed

I have 4.0623.0.41 :-(

@leban: The bug is only fixed in the latest N80 APAC version but not in the latest EMEA version. That's why it doesn't work for you.

There is still no update available although the problem is already known for a long time!
