I know this is a developer forum but I need this phone to work proper if I need to develop an app for it.

I tried nokia support but did not get any reply back.

I love the phone got it last week friday and 4 days after it was purchased a padlock icon appears in the indicator area.

I never set a security on the phone.

The padlock prevented me to make a call and receive a call.
Error message I get it is "Error in Connection"
It just has no service.. even the *611 would not work to connect to customer service or 911 emerg number.

The lock icon is not even in the manual as one of the indicator.

Can anyone tell me why would a padlock appear?

Please anyone? I checked the manual and this padlock icon is not even in the manual. I called my provider and they can't troubleshoot the problem.

Hey projectryan,

I'm having the exact same problem with my Nokia 5300!
What did you do to fix it?
I have no idea what to do and every time I try to make a call I get this "error in connection" message.
Please help.

After calling customer service, I was told to clean the SIM card with a clean white cloth (tissue paper). I did this and my phone ended up working again...
