Hi,

I have got two audio players in prefetch state and as soon as the first player finishes playing I want the second one to start, but unfortunately there is a gap. Can this gap be minimized. The code I used :

Player player1 = Manager.createPlayer(is,type);
player1.realize();
player1.prefetch();

Player player2 = Manager.createPlayer(is,type);
player2.realize();
player2.prefetch();

player1.start();

while(player1.getState()==Player.STARTED){}

player2.start();

And I even tried with player listener, starting the second player on END_OF_MEDIA event of the first player. Can the gap be reduced further (any code). The device I am testing with is 6630 (6.03.40).

Make a simple test: try to play two music files at the same time, with two different players. If you'll hear the both music files, then there is a chance to remove the gap. Otherwise, IMHO, the mobile platform's native player simply is not able to quickly switch between two media files.

Also try to remember, that the best way to init a player on mobile platform is to simply put a media file URI into the Manager. In this case some mobile platforms are turning on the media playback optimizing techniques, and play media at its best.

The Gap cannot to be reduced dramatically bcoz its the MMAPI implemetation
thats taking time in order to do some processing for second player to start such as getting the resources. Just we have to wait for a improved implementation of jsr 135
