So I got my hands on the new N95 and was impressed by its ability to record 640*480 mp4 video at 27 fps. Then I tried to record video from j2me program and it gives same old 176*144 3gpp or mp4 video at 15fps. Well who would've wanted to use quality video in commercial apps anyway and possibly recommend this model to customers...

Point is, why still after all this time you can get only 176*144 in j2me? That size has been same since the first mmapi phones, which came out several years ago. There is so much you could do with with bigger and better quality video if only we developers could actually get it from device. I'd like to know the reason for this limit, is it something fundamental in j2me or what?

And yes, I know what mmapi says, that you can give parameters for fps and video size. They dont work, if I give any size bigger than 176*144 , it gives player creation failed error.
