Hello Forum Members,
i developed a tiny application which is sending sms.
This works as long as there is a good signal and network coverage.
I do get a problem when the phone is loosing signal. Then the sms can't be send and is stored in the outbox of the phone. But as long as the sms has not been send (e.g. the sms is still in the outbox after a few minutes), my application is just hanging with a white screen. The sms in the outbox sometimes stays there for several minutes and sometimes doesn't get send at all .

I tried to workaround it by checking the signal strength before sending. But this is not very reliable as the signal strength value given by the Nokia phones sometimes seems to be pure phantasy. Especially in Dual-Mode and under pure signal coverage the signal-strength shows e.g. -83 dBm without having a signal at all.

Does anyone knows a way to tell my application to send a sms but prevent my application from hanging when the sms can't be send?

Does anyone has an idea why python needs a positiv sms-send reply at all to proceed with the script?
Is this a bug maybe?
Cause I can't see a clear reason why a negativ or none sms-send result should kill an application?

I would be interested in a discussion about this topic.
Where are the experts?

There must be a way to solve or workarond this!
