Why is this phone bluetooth data only? If this had been stated on the main website I would not have bought this phone. Can it be altered in anyway to recive get round this?

In the web site it is not mentioned that it would support audio. The Bluetooth use cases of Nokia 7650 are described in the http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,5184,815,00.html

Nokia 6210 (with Nokia Connectivity Battery) is another non-audio BT phone.

Hi,

The 7650 supports the following BT profiles:

Fax, Dial-up Networking, Bluetooth Serial Port, OBEX File Transfer, OBEX Object Push. So it does not support audio profile.

The 6310 for eg., DOES have Voice and Audio gateway profile support. Firmware update actually means replacing your phone to another one, so I suppose it's not possible to alter your currently existing phone. It's good idea to check up all options and features what the device can provide before buying it.
