Hi all,

I've just purchased an N76, which does not seems fully compatible with the bluetooth SAP profile as implemented in MB carkits. I am able to place a call, but no contacts ets.

Q1: is there a known fix for this?
Q2: does the 8600 Luna model has full SAP compatibility (+phonebook?)
Q3: does the 6233 model has full SAP compatibility (+phonebook?)

Thanks,
Tim

Short answer: Contacts/Phone Book has nothing to do with the SAP Bluetooth profile.

Long answer: Although, this is not a developer question and should have be ask in Nokia‘s end-user support channels, I recommend to contact Mercedes as those (should) have a list with compatible devices and/or procedures to enable this feature (Nokia N76 = Nokia Series 60; Nokia 6233 = Nokia Series 40). Furthermore, it is THEIR job to add this feature. Nokia could offer more protocols for contact access (there are more than half a dozen of those on the market), however, I doubt Nokia will change that.

The very last trick is to copy your important contacts to your SIM. Than SAP might have a chance to load those.

hi,
There is two useful items, one past entry on car phones. http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...ight=6230i+car

There is a set of articles on the Wiki about bluetooth.
http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...tooth_Overview

I have found that setting the Remote SIM function enabled (on) but then that means you have to copy contacts from your phone into you sim. Most new phones put contacts in the phone memory and my E61 and N95 automatically copy my 6230i SIM contacts to my phone memory.

Manufactures of car radios do list available phones they have been tested with. If you cannot enter a bluetooth passkey code then you have another problem.

PS translation of German web page use the Google Language tools as below

Good Luck

Thank you all for the reply.

The reason why is posted it on the development pages is simple; when all the futures work with a previous phone (nokia 6230) and not with a newer phone, it seems hard to sell that it is a Mercedes issue.

And yes, all my contacts are on the SIM, but even this info is not passed on to the carkit properly.

Greetz,
Tim

This is not an issue of ‘newer’ as a Nokia 6230 is a Series 40 and a Nokia N76 is a Series 60. These are complete different software platforms and, unfortunately, do not share code when it comes to connectivity.

This IS a Mercedes issue (as other car-kits like the Nokia 610 and Nokia 616 do it after installation of that tool – see the linked page how to use it), especially, when even the SIM contacts are not loaded. Period.

Nokia could integrate much more connectivity solutions like Sony Ericsson does in their normal non-Symbian OS phones, however, Nokia has not done and I doubt will ever do. The one who has to fix this now: Mercedes or you going for another mobile phone.

Hi All,

I am using a E50 together with Mercedes SAP access and parallel Route66 with the Nokia GPS mouse. Everything works perfect except that I loose SMS Messages. My Mercedes Radio shows that an SMS is received but it is lost - it is not in the Radio (which can not display SMS messages anyhow) and not on the phone.

My former Siemens Handy received the SMS message during my SAP session in the car without problems and I could read them later on. Any suggestions or ideas what to do not to loose the incoming SMS messages??

kind regards,
Frank
