well......since nokia haven't been up to standard helping us here i took matters into my own hands
if you are like me, your phone and pc pair quite happily!!! However, when trying to set up a serial connection to let the nokia suite software work.........nothing happens. The PC pops up a message saying something along the lines of "THE BLUETOOTH SERIAL PORT CONNECTION FAILED: THE REMOTE DEVICE CLOSED THE CONNECTION" if this happens, in your "my bluetooth conenctions" part of explorer, you will have a public folder on the phone. If you drag and drop into this folder, any files you are transferring will appear in your inbox as a new message. Brilliant you say, i can send stuff to my phone! But, i cannot send images off of my phone.....whats this all about? When i click on images and gop to "send via bluetooth" - sending failed appears on my phones rather nifty wee screen! The way to fix tis is rather more tricky i am afraid. If you are like me, you get a file with your drivers for your bluetooth device called BTserverspy.exe. Using this some clever wee swine out there (not me i am sorry to report) has figured out this fix. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Widcomm\BTConfig\Services\0004 this key in the registry contains the following "accept other" Just set this key to 0x0000001 and now when you go to send images via bluetooth in your phone, it will send it to your pc. Where though? this is in your bluetooth configuration on your pc. Just send an image that you know the name of (its on the header on the page showing the image on your phone) and search your pc for it. there you go. you can now send apps to your phone........and receive images from the phone. Now why cant a multi million corporation like nokia post a wee quick fix like this! all i need to do now is get this damn nokia suite working. The fact that nokia havent done it yet means they cant figure out why its not working. Think I can beat them to it? |

A couple of comments to your message:
1. PC Suite for Nokia 7650 does not support Windows XP. 2. Some Bluetooth solutions for PC do not support Object Push Profile, they only support File Transfer Profile. Nokia 3650/7650 instead support File Transfer profile only as a server, and Object Push Profile as both a client and a server. This might explain why sending to Nokia 3650/7650 works from those Bluetooth solutions but receiving a file not. Btw, the profile support of any qualified Bluetooth device can be found out at http://www.bluetooth.com/tech/products.asp . Click 'Search Products' -> 'Qualified Products' and you'll get into a page where you can find all qualified Bluetooth products. By clicking 'i' you'll get details of the device. Seppo Forum Nokia |

Certainly, the Bluetooth stack (atleast Serial Port Profile) on 7650 has a compatability issues with various (even with Bluetooth SIG ceritified) stacks. I received my 7650 two days ago. Since then I have been desperatly trying to use it with various stacks. I tried the stacks from Widcomm, 3Com, Brainboxes and the open source BlueZ. Guess what? All of them could not establish SPP connection with 7650.
I think I am going to endup getting Nokia's DTL-4 or Socket device. I am desperate because I spent $679 to get 7650 in US! /kmk |

This is a fix in the Widcomm Bluetooth software.
It doesn't have anything to do with Nokia. |

May I suggest that we publicise the 7650 incompatiblity with XP as a subject via email to the public via email rather than the nokia forum. We will need to make aware to the consumer before they faces the same problem after purchasing a 7650.
