Does the Nokia D211 change the connection types automatically?

No. The user can easily select between the connection types in the user interface by using the personal network profiles. Automatic network switching is not feasible, because

- different networks are charged differently ==> the user could not keep track of the costs
- laptops are normally used while seated, not while walking around ==> there is no need to change the network constantly.
- even complicated preference settings could not guarantee ideal network selection ==> Nokia prefers user-initiated network selection.
- some applications do not tolerate the loss of the original IP address ==> automatic roaming could crash an e-mail session, for example
