i have a nokia 3155i
the specs says that the max jar size supported is 500 k, i didn't know that and recently i tried to install the oxford dictionary which is a jar around ~7megs. i transferred the jar successfully onto the device using nokia pc suite 6.84 now when i try to open the apps folder (Extras->Collections) the mobile freezes up (stuck in the "Opening..." screen), and i have to restart the mobile. the dictionary does not show up in pc suite either. its just there occupying 7 out of the humble 12 m the phone has. is there any way i can remove the unusable app and free up the memory? all other functionality is intact, i can run/install/uninstall other java apps in the games section (Extras->Games). and even while the mobile freezes i can answer incoming calls. thanks in advance specs page for 3155i http://developer.nokia.com/devices/3155i for your convenience |

Hi mzzzzb! Welcome to Nokia Developer discussion Boards!! :)
Have you tried to remove/delete the application from the Phone ? Is it showing any error message ? Please make sure that you are using the version of the application which is intended for your phone. Regards Gopal |

Hi,
Just to add to what Gopal advised. It is strange for me because if it has a size of 7MB, it should not have installed. The memory specs are: Memory: Heap size: 2 MB Shared Memory for Storage: 11 MB Max JAR Size: 500 KB So the only thing I can think about is if there is a bug on its AMS/JAM implementation, which in turn I doubt. thank you guys for your prompt response
yes the phone has an uninstall feature; i have to get to the list of apps and Options-> Delete, but the mobile freezes before it can show the list of installed apps. java apps are categories as Games and Collections. i downloaded the jar into the collections group, which i cannot open(stuck in the "Opening..." screen). i can however open, run and add/remove apps in the games group from the phone as well as a PC(using MobiMB browser) i doubt the app is correctly installed, what i am sure is its using up space :( The memory status shows Total Memory: 12502 kB Free Memory: 1872 kB Used Memory: 10630 kB the gallery occupies about 2 MB PS This MobiMB browser populates the list in the apps folder, there are three entries the offending app- dictionary, and two others which were there originally, but i can't remove any. are there other 'mobile file browser' tools compatible with 3155? may be i can install such browser in the phone and manually remove the app? i also tried mobyexplorer but couldn't find the app. |

i am quite new to mobile apps; i heard this phone supported MDIP 2.0, i don't know what that means :) and the app was MDIP as well so i thought i should give a try :)

If you are in need of removing the app and you dont find any another way, give a try with Restore Factory Settings. Please make sure to back up all your personal data and contacts before restoring to factory settings.
