how many bluetooth devices can be discovered at a time .does it depend on bluetooth version(v1.1,v1.2 etc). and how much time it takes to discover the devices. does it depend on no. of bluetooth devices???

If we consider an error-free environment, the inquiry phase must last for 10.24 seconds if it is to discover all devices and considering a noisy or error-prone environment, inquiry can last much longer than this.

well AFAIK every bluetooth devices sends some advertisements to other devices in its range. Assoonas it gets an response from other bluetooth devices intrested in this device serives gets notified and adds to it list..

It is not time dependent but response dependent..

To add, there are various factors affecting the bluetooth device discovery time

1) As i said earlier as per the bluetooth specifications, the device takes atleast 10.24 seconds for discovery.

2) In an error-prone environment, it is difficult to determine the maximum time required for device discovery.

3) The device discovery time exceeds even more than normal when the two devices are actively moving.
