I know that many people would want to change the active profile
Now it is finally possible
I promise you to make it so I did
Many peoples would be very happy now

The active profile is really activated immediately
If you change from silent profile(1) to General profile(0) you hear the soft click sound of pressing keys

remarks : doesn't work with selfsigned version !!! (not enough caps !)

import xprofile

# get profile (for api completion !)
print xprofile.get_ap()

# set active profile to "General Profile" 
xprofile.set_ap(0)

# set active profile to "Silent Profile" 
xprofile.set_ap(1)

# set active profile to "Meeting" 
xprofile.set_ap(2)


# set active profile to "Offline" 
xprofile.set_ap(5)


# set active profile to your first "user profile"
xprofile.set_ap(30)

Could you test it on your device ?

tested only with the following devices :
N95
N93

I am having problems installing xprofile onto a Nokia E70. I signed the file in the usual way, but when I try to install it on my phone's memory or the memory card I always get the same error; I get a message saying "Update error" on the screen. Does anyone know what the problem might be, and how to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated!

Hello Pablo ,

I think that update error comes from a previous install of the old activeprofile module
xprofile uses by error a file by the same name : ecenrep.py in ressource folder ! So it's not possible to overwrite this file with xprofile install ...
Now I fixed the problem (change the filename ecenrep.py to exprofile.py in xprofile module

xprofile 1.1 3rd unsigned (NEW !)

@Dokkis and dipak: Sorry xprofile is using an only 3RD API
Yes it should be possible to switch profile for 2nd but it's not public API and until now I don't succeed to changing profile with 2nd
I have already tried but it crashed my device because it change register value but device didn't "see" the change of profile !

For 3rd you could also use the cenrep module for setting ang getting info on profile !

at Symbiansigned.com
and i hv installed on my phone.
it has installed properly and im able to get my active profile using
x.profile.get_ap()

but when im trying change my active profile to silent using
x.profile.set_ap(1)

its giving following error message

SymbianError: [Errno -46] KErrPermissionDenied

watz the problem again? where i went wrong.

please help me if u know the cause...

Hi Lekha,

This is because you need a signed Python scriptshell when using a (signed) xprofile module.

hi dipak, cyke and croozeus:

it is really possible to change the profile in 2nd edition but there is no module for that.
i m working on that since 15 days. the profile will not change automatically in a 2nd edition phone but the profile menu will be open and the phone will vibrate which will make u remind to change the profile. how is it?
please feedback me and give me good suggestions.

Yes Lekha, the PythonScriptShell you have downloaded is correct.

But signing is not mandatory for 3rd edition devices
If you want to use more capabilities than that offered by an unsigned PythonScriptShell then only you need to sign the PythonScriptShell.

Here you want to use xprofile so your scriptshell has to be signed....
