Hi all,

We noticed that when the camera lid is opened while the camera application is running in N73, the native camera starts and displays a "Camera in use by another application" message. We were wondering if this is a known issue and is there any way to workaround this in J2ME?

Thanks!

I didn't get exactly what you want to do, but if camera is in use by a third party application and you try to launch default camera, a warning will be displayed to indicate that camera is already is use. It's normal.

best regards

Hello,

We have an application that makes use of the N73 camera.
Here's the scenario:
1. User is running the application
2. User goes to the camera screen of the application
3. User opens the camera lid
4. The Native camera opens while the application is still running
5. "Camera in use by another application" message appears

The question is "Can we prevent the native camera from opening while our application is running?"

Thanks!

It may be "normal" but it's not user-friendly.

A slight improvement would be "Camera in use by name-of-application". (instead of "another application")

Ideally, if the application is trying to show live video/images on-screen there shouldn't be a warning at all - it's expected behaviour, and (I find) the warning confuses the user.

It appears that in some cases phone is even restarted...And recovers saying something about System error...
"Slighty" improvement would be to skip native camera app from interrupting other applications if they are actually using the camera...Just like on SE handsets... This is not first and i guess not last time nokia make this kind of improvement to prevent developers from releasing the application for these models...shame...
