Hi,

I am testing a web based AVL application that sends SMS messages in the text mode. Due to the unavailibility of GSM modems here in nigeria, I have opted to use a nokia phone.

But i do not know which of the low-end nokia phones support this feature.
Could someone please help me with a list of nokia phones that support these feature. Thanks

Look on http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite to find which phone models are compatible with Nokia PC Suite and in particular the Text Message Editor feature. Those phone models you can use for your purposes.

I guess I did not explain my problem clearly.
My AVL software sits on my webserver and can track a GPS device.

I am currently tracking a GPS blackbox that communicates with my tracking software (on server/basestation) via GPRS.
The AVL software can send commands (enable engine, disable door,...etc) to the GPS blackbox only through the use of a GSM modem/phone in the form of SMS messages.

SMS can be sent in either PDU/Binary or Text mode (not text message editor), my AVL software can only do so in the Text mode so I need a nokia phone that supports that feature.

I couldn't get any GSM modems so i have opted to use nokia phones which are easy and cheap 2 get in my country.

Please do help me out here.

Same answer: Go via the route I explained, and oyu will find the phones that support what you want. Then take that list and see which ones are those you can get in your country and the price.
