Hi,

I am planning to buy a 6110 Navigator and just had a look at the user manual.

I was sort of disappointed that an important feature is missing:

Tracking of GPS positions into GPX files.


I have a Garmin eTrex Venture CX which has that feature, and I found it pretty useful, i.e. you can track where you have been and e.g. plot tracks on Google Maps, or can correlate with the time information stored in digital images with digital cameras to interpolate the GPS position where the picture was taken.

So is there any way to have the Nokia developers extend the navigation software or to write some sort of plugin for that?

Hi,

Your phone may not have an application installed by default that can do this, however, there are plenty of (free) applications that can be installed which give you this functionality.

Looking only at the python scripts available, you already can find a large amount of apps that do this:

I am myself also working on such an app (consider this beta):

I am sure that there are also (free and non-free) commercial apps that do the same. If I recall correctly, the nokia sports tracker can also record tracks.
