Dear all , I will develop a LBS application on Nokia 6555, but it seem not support JSR 179 in the specific of Device, but some tip show that it support LBS in CDMA carrier company like AT&T ,

how to solve this problem ? I meaing which SDK will be use ? I download the S40 5th SDK , but it dose not support JSR 179 at all , so How to do the next step ? use S60 SDK or otheres ?

Anyone help me for this ? thanks to your reply ...

Instead of using location API (JSR 179), you may use bluetooth API (JSR 82) to connect to Bluetooth GPS device and get location information in NMEA format.

If you want to have "support LBS in CDMA carrier" option, ask the carrier about this (I suppose that you can get location data by sending special "string" to the operator over GPRS and receiving the location data in special format, but you'll probably need to sign an agreement with the operator; and don't expect that accuracy will be as good as GPS).

Good answer by jack44 to which some additions:

If you try to develop the LBS application for 6555 branded for AT&T (which is GSM carrier, btw) you cannot use the Bluetooth API at all, unless you get AT&T to sign the MIDlet (which happens only for partner companies)

On unbranded phones the Bluetooth API approach works
