Hi, I am developing a j2me application for Nokia N73 and I am unable to get the FocusControl for the main camera. Here is the snippet I am having trouble with:

PHP Code:

player = Manager.createPlayer("capture://video"); 
player.realize();

FocusControl focus = (FocusControl) 
player.getControl("javax.microedition.amms.control.camera.FocusControl");
if(focus!=null) {
  // control the focus
} else {
  // can't get focus control (always runs this step)
} 


I need to set the camera to Macro mode or equivalent.
Has anyone encountered this kind of problem?

FocusControl is part of AMMS API (JSR-234) and that API is not supported on N73. So no access to the focusing functionality of the camera on N73 (nor on any current Nokia phone). Unfortunately

Hi,

I'm trying to get the same FocusControl and testing in a N95 but I cannot make it work: FocusControl returned object is alway null. Isn't it supposed to work on Nokia N95 (Symbyan 60 3rd sw v12.0.013)?

Is there anyone that was able to get the focus control working on a Nokia N95?

Is it a matter of device? Any other device where focus and macro can be controlled?

The AMMS implementation on N95 does not support the camera controls. So Focus Control does not work on N95 either

Two more question if you can:
- Once S60 3rd Edition FP2 (currently beta SDK) will be available and stable, will it be possible in some way to upgrade my N95 to support it?

No, you cannot update the phone firmware from one platform edition/FP to another one.

Yes, N95 is S60 3rd Edition FP1 phone

Hello,
examining the relevant wiki page (Java ME API support on Nokia devices) I see that all devices supporting JSR-234 have a note "(audio3d & music)". Does that mean that no device is supporting the Camera Controls (and specifically FocusControl)? Is there another resource stating the APIs support in more detail?
