How do I wake up my app on some event which is put in a calendar, like bday, meeting etc. Assuming my app is running in the background as a daemon. (Sorry if this post appears twice, some connection pbm here)

Hello Yogi-am and welcome to the DiBo

Do you mean to perform any action on some events from the calender?
Have you exploited the calender module to the full?
Here is a testing script.

Hope that helps

Best Regards

My program would be running in the background and will be somehow(thats the pbm) listen to calendar events. Based upon the event, my program will take some action based on the event details.

Hey Rich

You can use the full URL or make a hyperlink to avoid long names. But I dont encourage the use of tiny URL as the user doesnt know what original site he is clicking onto!

Best Regards

No, the script located at the link is only to demo how to exploit the calendar API. My requirement is not that. If my question is not clear, please let me know. I will try to be more specific.

"A program running in background, waking up on some calendar event, doing some job, and go back to sleep"

This is what I want to accomplish. Hope I am crisp and clear
