Hi!
I have read, and heard, that only the Symbian OS can get to all the system functionality of the new series 60 and 80 phones, and that there are various limitations in this respect when using Java. Can someone please tell me if any of the Java-enabled phones allow management of incoming/outgoing SMS and/or MMS messages? In particular, is it possible to create a Java application that will intercept any SMS/MMS messages from a particular phone number and handle it in its own way. And is it possible for this application to send SMS/MMS messages when the user prompts the Java application to do so? The above question is the most important part of this post, but if possible, can someone also give me a brief description of what kind of things are not possible with Java, that are possible through native Symbian code? And finally, what OS was used in series 20 and 30 phones? Is there any scope for third party developers to create applications for them? Thank you very much for your time, PAUL. |

1. check out the Series 60 SMS API
2. With C++ you can almost do everything... with java just some paintings and http connections. no camera, no phonebook, no ir, bluetooth or phonecalls |
