Hi,
I know I might be duplicating some posts here. But after reading several posts I'm still confused with this issue. So I'd like to clean my ideas with your help. WHAT I WANT TO DO: I want to write a midlet for S40 3rd edition that is started after I send an SMS to the terminal. I know the MSISDN of the terminals I target. So, is this possible with Nokia phones? Hartti wrote: "The PushRegistry on Nokia devices does not support starting the MIDlet at the phone. Check here for a sample code for using push registry http://developers.sun.com/mobility/m...icles/pushreg/" That confused me also. So it is not possible? Why the example then? ------------- In case it is possible: - Is there a clear example around how to do that? - What kind of message and format needs to be be sent? - Can for example Kannel be used to send the messages? Thanks in advance. |

You are taking my answer out of the context. My message you quoted above was taken from this thread
http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...ad.php?t=54191 I was specifically answering if it is possible to start the MIDlet on Nokia devices at the phone startup. Waking the app with SMS is possible on Nokia phones of course. http://developers.sun.com/mobility/m...icles/pushreg/ Hartti |

Hi, thanks for the reply Hartti.
True, I got mixed up. The thread was covering pieces of S60, S40, startup and push registry :-) I thought startup and registry would be unrelated so I directly associated your comment to the push issue. But thanks a lot for the clarification, I'll jump into the Sun info next. Regards |

Hi,
I just tested (in the emulator 8-) my first SMS push wake up midlet. There is this excellent tutorial, maybe you know it already but just in case... http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/j...sh.html?page=1 I have one question though: When the terminal received the SMS in the emulator it asked from the user if he/she allows the SMS to wake up the midlet. Is that something that can be avoided with the right certificates for the midlet? So no user interaction is needed for that step. Thanks. |

(PushRegistry is covered with Application auto-start function group.) Hartti |
