I have the 1.4.2 distribution running on a Nokia N95.
One of the options is: BlueTooth Console (I assume this is btconsole.py and it is now bundled). When I run in on the phone side I get: Connecting to ('00:17"9a"2b"54"55', 1)... OK On the PC side, I have a WinXP SP 2, with a BlueTooth dongle running the Toshiba stack. I used the automatic setup (which works for my GPS, Wiimote, and other BT devices). It gave me a COM port. But when I try on the PC side to do the CONNECT, I get an Connection Failed. Also, when I try to hyperterm into the COM port that was setup (COM6) I get connections established, but I cannot type anything. And the BlueTooth Settings panel still shows NO connection. |

I always love to respond to my own thread with finding the problem and resolution.
I did all steps correctly 1. D-Link DBT-120 BlueTooth Dongle with Toshiba Stack (Many bluetooth devices are finiky, this works with Wii motes, GPS, etc). 2. Set PC BlueTooth Settings to allow discovery 3. Use PC BlueTooth Settings to add Discovery (Make sure bluetooth is enabled on the phone) 4. This will create a peering partnership 5. Get IVT VT220 (Freeware) as the PC telnet/hyperterminal 7. Start Python on phone 8. Select BT console 9. Choose More devices and select your computer (make it your default). Watch carefully what the COM port that the phone says it is opening. In my case it was COM7. That was the mistake. On the PC it was saying COM41. But that was outgoing. Also make sure that BlueTooth COM port service enabled on the Toshiba BlueTooth Options (Settings panel). Then use IVT to connect to the COM7 Seriel port. I hope this helps others. It is a great way to debug. BTW, You can not have data transfer services running at the same time that you are doing this, since they both want control of MASS storage. But each will still work independently. |
