Hello all,
I'm trying to make an application which sends a file over bluetooth to a mobile phone via BT using obex protocol. For this, I should have a client application running on the PC and server application on the mobile (Correct me if I'm wrong here). Now, is it possible to implement a file transfer without running any application on the mobile phone? I mean just like we normally send files from one mobile to the other, like just switching on the bluetooth and allowing to receive the message? PC sends the file and mobile just receives it without having to run an application to receive the file. please suggest some way if this is possible at all and if it's not then also let me know so that i stop thinking about it. Thaks a lot in advance. |

Hi,
What do you mean by not running any application at all? How does your mobile know that it need to receive a file? One theoretical way is that you can create your own BTUI and when you put it on, immediately you run obex server so user may think that no application has been started but only BT has been put on. I think you don't mean this :-) |

Hey, thans for the reply mahbub_s60,
Well your suggestion seems to be like fooling the user. But honestly i also thought of it and also kept it as the last option i would go for. But the question you asked that "How does your mobile know that it need to receive a file?", when we switch on BT on two phones and then one tries to send a file to the other, the other just prompts us as:"Receive message from ____ ?" (the blank would be the phone's friendly name.) And as we push the yes button, the file is received. So, I want to create such an ease on the receiveng side. Is this possible? Thanks in advance. |

Hi,
I think you don't have much option than having a listener code running in the receiver device. When your device starts with BT ON then it starts to listen if remote device (if any body is trying to connect). If you start the device with BT OFF then it does not listen. When you put BT ON again it start to listen. Hope this help you to decide how to proceed. Mahbub |
