canvas.blit() problem - scaling does not go together with picture masks -

Is there anyway I can scale .png files and the same time to get to use masks? (For the canvas to display my transparent pixels transparently.
 ) If it is not possible can I at least make the background match the color of the transparent pixels(which looks to be black.)

It says that scaling and masking is not possible at the same time.
