i dont know much about compressing ram but you can definitely change the heap size using ensymble. Have a look at this thread.

How to compress RAM: Symbian OS does not offer API, which would allow this. Each application has fixed memory space, which is isolated from all others. Any application, which could be created by a normal 3rd party user, cannot compress RAM.

i also thought that thats why i pointed that thread of changing the heap memory. but i think cool_eagle has some other thoughts going on.
