Gradients have been rasterized -

I have a graphic file that has been made in AI and saved as AI. I want to use this graphic as a SVGT icon in a S60 theme but the problem is when saving as SVGT gradients are rasterized and the image quality are then decreased.
How do I avoid that the gradients are rasterized when saving as SVGT?
