Nokia announce S60 5th Edition and along comes support for OpenC/C++, Flash Lite, Java, etc. But, where's Python for S60 5th Edition? We've just started research into using Python on S60 but I'm a little disconcerted that there is little news on Python for S60 5th edition.
I know Nokia intend to promote languages like Python for RAD purposes but they are not showing it at present. |

hi scopesoft
First of all a warm welcome to the forum nokia python discussion boards. I would also support bogdan and will urge you to be bit patience as earlier in one thread jplauril has already mentioned that there is going to be a new release soon which will be be based on the python 2.5. So we all require a bit of patience and will sure get something new and exciting. Hope for the best Enjoy Pythoning Gaba88 Gargi Das- http://gargidas.blogsot.com Forum Nokia Python Wiki Learn Python at http://mobapps.org/PyS60 |

Thanks for your response. I'm currently working at Sony Ericsson in the Smartphone products using Symbian and from what we've discovered about PyS60 it provides complete Symbian novices to produce working applications within a day. A true RAD tool. Most of our team are very interested in using PyS60 for automatic testing and reporting of on-phone applications.
Just a little disappointed that Nokia didn't see fit to put it alongside langauges such as Java and Open C. |

PyS60, in its current incarnation, is not mature enough. But we all expect the situation to improve shortly. Please search this forum about "Python 2.5".

Version 5? What ever happened to 4?

The same thing which happened with Leisure Suit Larry 4

Haha, I remember that. I was a big fan of all those games as a kid. Also Microsoft Word skipped from 2 to 5 in order to keep up with WordPerfect. But I still wonder why Nokia skipped 4. I guess because it's bad luck in some superstitious cultures.
