Hi,

I have stumbled upon an xls file containing phones that can use different Locators(URL) for the VideoPlayer and taking a snapshot (under "camera snapshot" sheet).

It can have the following:
1. capture://image
2. capture://video
3. capture://devcam0
4. capture://devcam1

I'm more concerned about the first two Locators. The xls file is not updated anymore since there are newer S40 and S60 Editions that are not listed in the xls file.

Based from my observation on the xls file, S40 phones can only have "capture://image" and S60 phones can only have "capture://video"

Is my observation correct? I wanted my application to run on a wide range of phones and I wanted to make sure that I use the right URL Locators in the application for each phone groups.

Hi gregschua,

you're right about it: "capture://image" is a S40-specific locator for taking snapshots, while on S60 you must always use "capture://video". For Nokia devices, a simple approach to manage all devices is (as pointed out in various other treads, like this) to try to create a player with the "capture://image" locator and, if it throws an Exception, use the standard "capture://video" one.
