It includes the fine WLANTOOLS module from Christophe Berger http://www-rp.lip6.fr/~berger/pys60.html, so it is rather easy to install: Download, opensign with full caps, test. What does it do? It uses WLANTOOLS in order to scan your WiFi environment. After the scan it sends the gathered BSSIDs up to SkyHookWireless and asks for GeoCodes. If available, the codes are shown. If required, a small Google Map is downloaded. Upgrade: Supports Cell ID positioning now. Asks the phone for the cell id and looks up the stuff at Google. Same map behavior as for WPS. Pre releases and issues have already been discussed here: http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...d.php?t=148345 Basic script used for CPS may be found here: http://maps.alphadex.de/datafiles/location_from_cell_info.py.txt Regards

Hi neil.young,
Congratulations again! As I said on the other thread, I won't be able to test it, since here in Brazil it wouldn't work fine ![]() Anyway, good luck and keep the project up! ![]() BR, Rafael. |
Thanks. |

@neil
did you use the skyhook SDK for that? about 5 months ago i've tried to do the same, but i didn't manage to get the dll (or whatever it was) from the skyhook SDK to work... i finally worked around that issue by using my own wlan-database, which brought some sort of wps to pynetmony (http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...d.php?t=114522) back then, which works offline. anyhow, i just wonder how you managed to get python running with skyhook... No, no SDK involved.
Just a bit reverse engineering, in details explained here (together with a C# sample): http://foreverneilyoung.blogspot.com...u-firefox.htmlThe very first version of my python approach is published for free in this thread: http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...d.php?t=148345 Regards |

Upgraded to 1.0.3. Now support for CPS (cell id positioning). Asks your phone for the currently used GSM/UMTS cell and looks up the stuff at Google.
