I'm not sure I understand your question, but if you mean check whether a thread is alive, yes, there is the isAlive() method. From the Python online documentation, thread objects section:

isAlive()

Return whether the thread is alive.

Roughly, a thread is alive from the moment the start() method returns until its run() method terminates. The module function enumerate() returns a list of all alive threads.

There is also isDaemon(), if you're interested.
