Hi:
I need to make an application that transfers continuous data between two phones. The requirement is not that strict, since buffered (i.e. delayed) transmission is acceptable. I previously used bluetooth for this but now the requirement calls for connection over long distances so the network must be used. I'm guessing that I could setup some type of internet service and make both cellphones connect to it, using the server as a pass-thourgh point. Is there any more direct way to connect the two phones? Thank you very much. |

Many operators block incoming TCP connections. A relay server sounds like a good idea to work around that. You can use existing free services like mail (GMail?) or instant message (Google Talk?) if you don't want to set up your own server. It's a bit more work to transfer data over what is traditionally used for human-to-human communication, but it can (and has been) done.
