Can u pls, tell me how to get IMEI from the device?

I try to get the IMEI by all the following strings using System.getProperty(""):
->com.nokia.mid.imei
->com.nokia.IMEI
->phone.imei

This works fine in S60 3rd edition FP2 emulator(shows 0's). But on N95, and N73 devices, it shows NullPointerException. Is there any other solution for it? Is the property string is differ for various versions(FP2,FP1,and S40 emulator etc.,) and series(N and E etc.,) of device?
Pls, guide me------

I think only applications signed by Nokia can see these properties.

The IMEI number is privileged information, the sandbox prevents you from accessing it.

This article explains the situation. Basically IMEI can only be retrieved on 3rd Edition FP2 devices from the S60 platform (and some Eseries devices). This is probably due to lack of functionality in MIDP 2.0

Could you please explain what you mean by "opensource utilities other than j2me"? If you mean another programming language then yes, there is at least Python and Symbian C++.
