Hi,

Since I want to use some function in the 'location' package, so I decided to sign the script shell. My script shell is 1.9.1 and I've already got a certification file for my own IMEI (from a Chinese website which create certification for people, the URL is http://cer.dospy.com), so I self-signed the script shell SIS file and installed it on my s60-3ed cellphone without a problem, but the following code still print 'None' that means the signing have not take effect:

import location
print location.gsm_location()

What clue? I searched the forum and found someone suggested to use 1.4.2_testrang_uid.sis, what's that and why should I bother with an old version such as 1.4.x?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
narke

Hi,

The PyS60 1.9.x runtime is self-signed. That means that no matter how you sign the script shell you will never be able to perform operations that require special capabilities because Python itself (Python_1.9.1_3rdEd.sis) doesn't have those capabilities.

So until a final version with all capabilities (probably 2.0) is released you should continue to use 1.4.x, if possible.

Excellent! I downloaded 1.4.5, and it works now. Thank you very much!
