I don't know if it's a trivial problem, but I haven't found anything by searching the community forum about this feature.

I have a simple program that shows some text on screen with an appuifw Text object. I'd like to make this Text read-only to users.

Is this possible?

It's not possible with the default modules, but you can use appuifw2 extension

I guess Text_display() is perfect for you

Yes it is

Just use the keycapture module to detect what keys are pressed and if the keys could edit the text, ignore them. Here's a more elaborate explanation:
