Okay first of all hi guys and girls.

ATM I havent done any phython programming, my background is java and j2me. I mainly do software for PLC/SCADA now so I'm a bit off mainstream but used to in the past.

Basically Im struggling to get started installation wise.

I have downloaded the shell and phython for my s60 v3 N95 8GB phone - no problems here. I have downloaded the PythonForS60_1_4_5_SDK_3rdEdFP1.zip file too and s60 emulator fp1.

But i have downloade carbide c++ and it just doesnt seem to compile/build etc, i can view the program i wrote but i cant see the classes, or functions etc.

My aim is to have an SDK that i can edit my code in and complile in then trasfer the code to my phone.

Thanks

Hi,

Using an IDE like Carbide.c++ or Eclipse for PyS60 development has been discussed before, and it is not currently possible. The best you could do is use PyDev with Eclipse but that wouldn't work since you have to use PyS60 modules too, not just standard Python ones.

The best solution is to just use a simple text editor like Notepad, Notepad++ etc., save the file as a Python script and transfer it to your phone.

Thank you.

Sorry for a repetitive question.

In that case i might aswell use geany or somthing.

I just find it very odd you cant compile with an IDE, Sony erricson SDK was awesome for an IDE and compiler

Now we're talking about PyS60 script development, since you're asking about this in python Discussion Board. Carbide works (great) with C++ and java.

I am extremely surprised to hear that SonyEricsson devices can run python.

Cheers,
