I purchased a cell phone from an on-line auction company and I dont know what I need to get it up and running. Its a 5190 nsb-1nx and it asks for a sim card, do I need to purchase one, or is there a way around it? All help is appreciated.

Hello,

Nokia 5190 is a GSM 1900 phone. GSM phone needs a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module), which contains, among other things, your cellular phone number. You can get one from the local GSM operator (ATT Wireless, Cingular, T-Mobile, VoiceStream, ...). The phone wouldn't work without a SIM.

Regards,
