What is the difference in terms of performance between them?
I want to write a program using infrared with J2ME in Mobile, i am not sure if the technology enable me to do so or not. |

Basically the transfer rate is of same magnitude (100-700 kbps, according to the specs). There is no Java API to Infrared or Bluetooth in MIDP in Nokia phones.

Bluetooth: theoretical maximum = 1 Mbps, real world speed < 0.6 Mbps
IrDA : theoretical maximum = 4 Mbps, real world speed < 3 Mbps |
