For J2ME midlet, We know some mobile support video/3gp but some not, what's the reason behind?
some people say: you need MMAPI for J2ME to play video, but it depends on the manufacture. if you don't have it, you can't install it later on. My question is: why can't install it later on? which layer is the MMAPI located according to below hierarchy? Optional Packages(1) --------------------- Profiles(MIDP)(2) --------------------- Configuration(CDC)(3) --------------------- Java Virtual Machine(4) --------------------- Host Operating System(5) |

According to this MMAPI is an optional package.
It often happens that a MIDlet cannot handle all the file formats that the phone is said to be able to handle. |
