Hi All,
I am new to mobile development. Just doing RND in this environment. We have to develop a small application, where a link will be provided, user downloads the application into mobile. When the user access the application for first time we have to ask for his IMEI number, so that we can store that data into database and use this data for further process. Second time when he access , IMEI should not be asked. Is this approach is good . If it is good then how to proceed.. please give some dieas. Any different idea than this is also welcome. Retrieving IMEI number can be done through code. . thanks for the responses. I will explain the actually RND of the project based on that please suggest you valuable ideas. Step 1:: At webserver side an application will be developed, which can be accessed through desktop and through mobile. Step 2 :: A link is provided to the user to install our application. Based on the device (if it is windows mobile then windows mobile application will be installed, if its is nokia device then that particular device application will be installed.) Step 3 :: when the user access the application for first time it should promt to provide his details, those details are send to webserver database. Those user name , password is used to access the server application.Second time when the application is accessed its should not promt for registration. step 4 :: after the registration process, user's camera will be on and as he captures any picture then that picture will be displayed on the screen. Then the user has to click on the image, then the particular RGB values of the pixel , along with the picture captured will be sent to the webserver database for further process. Thanks in Advance

What do you mean by the bold lines? If you are saying that you will ask the IMEI number to enter, than I wonder that this is a good approach. Anyways you can follow the Ansh suggestion to get the IMEI,or read the lines- Quote:
1.Just have the IMEI number, 2.When user click the application first time then you write the data in the RMS, 3.Now on every time when user start the application, you check the RMS,(either in startApp() or in the constructor of midlet) 4.since second time running application will find at least one record in the RMS,then you need not to ask the information that you ask, when app runs first time. Thats all you required, Thanks R a j - The K e r n e l |
