I bought a few USB Bluetooth devices before I found one that worked with my wifes 7650 and PC Suite, a TDK USB, however, that was on my Win 2K Pro setup.
I have migrated to Win XP PRO, downloaded and installed the latest TDK drivers. I have downloaded the latest XP compliant version of PC suite. All installs OK, Phone seen by bluetooth software, appears to connect to phone OK, but in the M-Router only an Infra Red port is offerred. Where have all the COM ports gone that I saw when using the same pieces of kit on a WIN 2K set up ? |

I've got exactly the same problem with a W2K box, only the infrared and COM1/2 ports show up in mRouter. Contacted Nokia e-mail support regarding the issue and here's what they told me in a nutshell:
- it's not a flaw in the mRouter software - ask the vendor of your BT adapter for support I'm sorry to say that Nokia support is a joke. NOKIA SUPPORT LISTEN UP: BLUETOOTH IS SUPPOSED TO BE A STANDARDIZED PROTOCOL. THERE'S NO POINT IN ARGUING THAT SOME BT ADAPTERS WILL WORK WITH THE 7650 AND SOME WILL NOT. IF THE PC SUITE SOFTWARE DOES NOT WORK WITH THE MAJORITY OF ADAPTERS THIS PROBLEM HAS TO BE ADDRESSED BY NOKIA. IF NOKIA DOESN'T FEEL LIKE ADDRESSING THE ISSUE THEN CUSTOMERS WILL HAVE TO MAKE THEM BY CHOOSING A MOBILE PHONE FROM A DIFFERENT VENDOR NEXT TIME AROUND. |
