Hi,

I think it is completely OK for you to develop a new input method on Series 60 platform. In fact, you can develop the method on Series 60 emulator and verify it. I think it is perfectly OK, then you can even sell your package to Nokia or any other third party companies.

If you want to make money on your own by selling your input method (possibly with your patents) on Series 60 phone, you have to make your module into a plug-in, and install it onto a Series 60 device.
