Hello,

I have seen the following settings for streaming on 3650

--------3650, Real Player settings----------
#Video settings
Video Quality = High/Sharp
Automatic Scaling = On/Off
#Playback Settings
Repeat = Off
#Network Settings
Default Access Point =
Bandwith = Automatic/Manual
Maximum Bandwith = 9.05 - 40.2
Connection Time-out
Server Time-out
Lowest Port = 6970 (cannot be changed)
Highest Port =
#Proxy Settings
Use Proxy = Yes /No
Host Address =
Port =
--------------------

What is this Proxy about? Is this some sort or RTSP proxy that the operator shall deploy? What are the benefits of using it?

Many thanks.
Rgds,
Chris

Hi!

You need to use RTSP server to download the stream. Only the URL's starting with rtsp:// will be accepted by the player.

Teemu,

Can you pls describe the message flow device-streaming server (TCP and UDP) for both cases:
1. With Proxy
2. Without Proxy?
I am trying to understand how an opeator needs to set-up the firewalls between the GGSN and the device and what are the benefits of using the Proxy.

Many thanks.
Rgds,
Chris

Hi,

Unfortunately firewall configurations are quite difficult and often require a large range of ports to be opened. It is also impossible to give a simple and comprehensive solution for the problem as the solution is strongly case-specific. For example the streaming server's version affects also firewall configurations.

Best place to find information about these firewall configuration issues is Realnetwork's document site at:

http://www.realnetworks.com/resource...ion/index.html

From that site you can find also information about the Realnetwork's proxy server.

Best Regards,
