I am trying to use the serial port to communicate with a device. It seems that Nokia, and most other, phones do not support this with MIDP 1.0. I was wondering if anyone could turn me in the correct direction. I was also wondering if it is possible to access the firmware commands that drive the serial port communications. These phones can use the serial port, so there must be a way of getting around MIDP's apparent neglect of serial communciation.

Hello, I am trying to do the same thing (connecting a cell-phone to another device using the serial connector). I am new at this and dont know if this is even possbile: what protocol is used to communicate with the phone? Any infor would trully be appreciated. Please cc any replies to vargasv@msoe.edu
