hi.
i installed the helix-server on our webserver. real-one clients on other computers can access the rtsp-streams but my 3650 gets a server time-out. rtsp-port on the server is 6971. phone- settings are the default-settings. gprs-access is functioning (tested with wap) firewall is inactive, all ports open. what could be the reason for not getting a connection with the phone? |

Hello!
You can't use the access point dedicated to WAP with streaming. You need to specify one additional access point that has direct connection to internet. Usually the same access point that you use when connecting the phone to your PC will be suitable. When using WAP access point all traffic is directed trough WAP gateway that is not suitable for continuous stream. Consult your local service provider about the settings. Teemu / Forum Nokia |

Hi,
Check also that you're using RealVideo/RealAudio 8. Best regards, V / Forum Nokia |

Also say this problem.
Using the default settings in the nokia guide works when film is loaded locally. I however have not managed to get my stuff streaming. It is real8 and it works to IP outside filewall on laptop but not to handset. It does reach the server as I see it in the logs but then fails so any help will be good. Steve |

We are having the same problem, in the UK with Vodafone. Vodafone's customer support are (expectedly) completely clueless, and can provide no help whatsoever. If anyone has gotten this working, any information you could post would be appreciated.

Hello!
Just to clarify few things. Streaming is event when there is a continuous stream of tv broadcast whitout start or end for the video. Everything else is local playback, this includes the alternatives that you receive the lip in MMS message, download the clip to device using WAP or HTTP, or you may transfer the clip from your PC using IR or BT. Most common problem is that web server storing these clips does not have correct MIME type assigned. One alternative could also be to send RAM file pointing to correct URI. Players in nokia products are not able to use "Progressive downloading" where the static clip is being downloaded while played. So, does these problems occur when streaming or when playing a local clip? Teemu / Forum Nokia |

For us the problems occur when streaming - we know this because we have the problems even when downloading from the Real site (the URL of which is in the phone's bookmarks list when you purchase it).
The problem is definitely (for us, again) that Vodafone's standard GPRS and WAP connections do not seem to want to pass streamed video, or at least streamed video from outside their network. |

Vodafone in the UK does not allow streaming at this time.
Their network configuration means all IP traffic is passed through a gateway. This gateway limits the Kbps through it. Vodafone Live now offer video download (A much better user experience than streaming) except the films they have on there dont work on my 3650 - good old Voda. If any one outside of Voda has got clip download working then I would be interested in knowing. S |

Well, we finally got it working (through Vodafone even - sort of) by setting up a different connection specifically for Real. So, when it wants to connect up (because we've passed it a URL to a Real video stream) it actually opens a CSD connection to our ISP. Not great, and certainly not production, but does allow us to test.

OK so its not try streaming but I can now get a wap page to load a video file - sporn real player and play the movie. It isnt streamed so there are still some issue but bless it it works.
This is going through the Vodafone network, over thier GPRS network... Steve |

OK, looks like you have it working already, but I was just going
to say that there are mailing lists and IRC channels you can use to get help on the Helix client, producer and server here: https://www.helixcommunity.org/ Greg Wright Real Inc. |
