I have noticed that the database component in Activ Server 2.1 will sometimes fail to load on Windows 2000. The component will fail to load and generate three alerts (saying things like "database failed to load, trying to gain access to port 1500"). If this happens, I have found the only way of fixing the fault is to uninstall everything and reinstall it from scratch. Then resave everything, being careful to save and start the database component first.
