anyone have any luck with an ambicom CF card. I can get it to pair just fine, they are both trusted to each other, but PC Suite and connection manager cannot connect. Connection manager does seem to ask about using the phone name, as well as asking for pairing password, when I enable the appropriate com port for bluetooth. I'm using May 6, 2003 ambicom drivers.

Yeah i've tried everything, just bought one of these ambicom bluetooth usb adapters yesterday and windows and the bluetooth neighborhood see them fine and ask for the pin and everything, but pc suite doesn't see my phone at all (3650)

I even tried the bluetooth chat, and all I saw was about 15 garbled characters, reminiscent of baud rate errors from the old days. Sigh. I guess we'll have to rely on IR connections for the time being. We bought a bluetooth Jabra FreeSpeak hand's free as well that doesn't work. I'm starting to suspect Nokia's version of bluetooth.

I've been working on trying to get PC Suite to work with 3650 for a couple of days and finally got the darn thing to work. I haven't uninstalled the software and retried the procedure (mostly cause I'm tired of dealing with it for now). I have an XP system and have had the same problem with both the PCMCIA card and USB Dongle, so if you're not using XP the process may be a little different. Each of the steps may not be necessary and hopefully I won't miss anything, but here goes...
1. Download and install the lastest Bluetooth drivers from Ambicom's website. 2. Make sure that the 3650 is configured for Bluetooth and that the Ambicom Bluetooth can see it. 3. Start the Amicom Bluetooth Neighborhood application, Right click on the PC/Laptop icon that's your Windows PC, select properties and set the security to Mode 3. 4. Pair the devices. 2. Download and install the following files from http://www.nokiausa.com/phones/software/3650/ Nokia 3650 PC Suite Modem Setup (ignore the fact that you can't select Bluetooth during the installation) 3. Reboot 4. Make sure that none of the connection settings in the Nokia Connection Manager (mRouter) are selected. 5. From the Windows Control Panel bring up "Phone and Modem Options" 6. Click on the Modems tab and click on the Add... button 7. Click the don't detect my modem and click Next 8. Nokia should be listed under Manufacturer, select it and Nokia 3650 (Bluetooth) should show up. 9. Click next 10. Select COM3 as the port to use and click Next 11. The infamous not Certified by Microsoft should come up, click OK 12. Click Finish (I think it is) 13. Double click the Nokia Connection Manager (mRouter) and select COM3 14. Start the Nokia 3650 PC Suite and it should come right up w/o the This is the 1st time use, click OK to continue. Once again I hope I got the order right and didn't forget anything, if so hopefully someone else will correct me. Now I'm outta here, to see exactly what the heck the PC Suite does (hehe). Addition- I just realized that you MUST have the Ambicom Bluetooth Neighborhood app running before you can start the PC Suite. You also MUST deselect the the COM3 connection in the Nokia Connection Manager after Bluetooth Neighborhood is running. Bluetooth Neighborhood will popup a dialog asking you to select a device (at least on my system since I have a PDA also paired). Select the 3650 and click OK, then reselect the COM3 port on the Nokia Connection Manager, the connection icon in the Windows tray will show connected (blue and green from the original grey). Now you can startup the PC Suite. There may be another way to keep from having to do this everytime, but for now it's the best solution that I could come up with.

I have tried the procedure that you are suggesting and the result is the same.
On my laptop, I have a modem installed on COM3 so when I tried to install the Bluetooth modem, it only allowed me to select COM1. Nevertheless, I tried it with COM1 and it did not work at all. According to the device manager the Bluetooth Serial port is COM4. The problem here is that everytime I try to select it, an error appears with the following message: "It is not possible to enable the infrared port, as it may be in use by another applications" The things is, I am not trying to enable the infrared port at all!!! I read somewhere that there are some major problems with the PC Suite and mRouter and people suggest using the mRouter from version 1.1. I tried even that and it still does not work... I am not sure whether calling Nokia technical support will much good either. |

Yeah the infrared msg is bogus, but after you get that message and click OK reselect the SERIAL COM port (COM4 probly in your case) in the Nokia Connection Manager one more time, then the green/blue connection icon should come up. I've tried this on both my desktop and laptop systems and it's worked the same goofy way on both. Sorry, I shouldn't have used the COM port number. The COM port you need to use is the Bluetooth SERIAL port, not the DUN port (which is for Dial Up Networking) as specified in the Nokia docs. You can determine which port is the SERIAL port by bringing up the Device Manager window from the Windows Control Panel/System/Hardware panel (using Classic View mode in XP). If Ambicom is installed properly you should see 4 additional ports; DUN, FAX, LAN & SERIAL. Replace theCOM port number that is defined as the "Bluetooth COM Port - SERIAL (COM?)" everytime COM3 is referenced in the steps above.
I'm not a Bluetooth expert by any means. But i definately agree that there are major problems with the software.
