Hello, I plan to develop some Java code for a 3650 which allows for reading back or spelling incoming SMS. The goal is to make the phone more accessible to people with no or low vision. I wonder if there is existing code for either text-to-speetch or - more likely - to spell such messages. It would also be nice to be able to receive a code call on a menu entry event so that keystrokes could be echoed with a corresponding sound i.e. name of the entered menu.

Hello, I'm working on a similar project. Actually we want to synthesize not only SMS but complete menues.

At the moment I managed to access the phone keyboard via MIDP 1.0 and get some beep played with the Nokia API, but I'm still struggling with it.

There is code for TTS suitable for mobiles from SVOX. It's running on the Nokia 7650 and 3650.

hi im working on the same project but im using vc++.. im still trying to configure how will i receive a message and analyze each character and read the words using phonemes. do you have any idea how will i do this?
