i have search through this forum and found that everyone confirmed that series 40 can not play polyphonic midi.

but why alatto (www.alatto.com) can do it in their karaoke's application?

Yes, you cannot play polyfonic sounds on S40 platform using J2ME by default. However, some of the latest S40 models (3300 at least) also contain the MultiMedia API (MMAPI). With MMAPI it is possible to play wavs, midis and sp-midis. I have been developing a game for S40 platform and it is currently using both mono and polyfonic audio.

So yes it is possible to play midi in series 40, if the phone has MMAPI support.
