Hi!

I have a problem with the volume of the byte-code sound I want to play. Although I set the gain to 255 the output is very silent. I even tried different frequencies but that did not change much.

The built-in game Backgammon is definitely louder.

Do I miss something?

I'm having the same problem with my first game MIDlet.

Using FORMAT_TONE sound does seem to be very quiet, I haven't looked into the problem much yet, but if I figure it out I'll let you know.

Has anyone else had similar problems with the 3510i?

Well, I think i've sorted it in my game. I was using sound code taken from one of the Nokia PDF tutorials.

In their code they do a setGain(128), which of course sets the volume to half! So simply changing that to setGain(255) sorted the problem out for me.
