Hello all,

I am having a problem with alpha processing. I am trying to display a series of logos, and have a transition which blends them together.

The the way Im attempting to tackle this problem is as follows:

private void render(Graphics g)
{

if(frames < 75)
{
g.drawImage(image1,(w/3), (h/3),Graphics.LEFT|Graphics.TOP);
}

if(frames > 74 && frames < 201) //basic test to see if alpha works
{
g.drawImage(image1,(w/3), (h/3), Graphics.LEFT | Graphics.TOP);
g.setColor(0x55000000); //should be partially opaque black pixel?
g.fillRect(w/4, h/4, w/4, h/4); //draw small rectangle covering about 1/4 of logo
}

//draw next logo etc etc

You can't set alpha values with the normal Graphics object.
You can do it with Nokia's DirectGraphics interface (which means you lose portability to other phones), though, so look into that.
