Hi,

Can anybody tell me what I need to do to enable Bluetooth on the emulator. I am using a v1.0 SDK and I wanted to follow the instructions written in the SDK help. It says that after starting the emulator I should open the Connectivity folder and select Bluetooth. The problem is that there is nothing under the Connectivity folder. Opening it displays "No data".

What do I need to do in order to be able to use BT on the emulator?

Thanks for any answer in advance
Richie.

The instruction in the SDK Help refers to the phone, so it is a little misleading.

Please visit Bluetooth Documents section at Forum Nokia:
http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/1,,1_43_40,00.html

There you can download a document 'Setting Up and Using the Bluetooth Testing Environment for Series 60 Platform' (the bottom-most document on the page) that gives instructions on how to install and configure the Bluetooth development and testing environment for the the Series 60 SDK v1.0.

Hi,

Copy from the document:
Testing the Connection
Start the emulator.
Open Tools | Notes from the emulator and write a new memo. Then send it via Bluetooth to another Bluetooth device. By default, the Bluetooth radio is off, but the user will be prompted to switch it on before device search.

...the user will be prompted to switch it on
before device search.

I find this line misleading...In a real phone the bluetooth is activated automaticly when needed but in the emulator this is not the case....I had to enable bluetooth manually before I got it working in the emulator...(and it took me more than a day before I figured this out :-(()

The document should say clearly that the user must activate bluetooth manually before trying to use it!!!

Hi,

I want to connect from a Nokia Emulator to a Bluetooth rfcomm Service via Bluetooth.

Environment:
1. Sun Studio 5 Early Depl. Mobile Edition
2. Special NOKIA Bluetooth Card
3. SDK 1.2.1 Emulator Series 60
4. Applikation written unter J2ME/MIDP2.0

Problem: Inquiry or Service Search doesn't run. If I want to connect directly to the known btspp://... url, I'm getting "Symbian OS error = -5" Exception.

The emulator itselft gets an bluetooth error if you want to config the bluetooth in the menu, although everything is running on the same machine with the C++ emulator/environment. That means, that the .esk files are correct and the bluetooth nokia card is corretly installed.

Any ideas?

cu
Ralf.
